Forever

Forever

A Poem by Blue
"

a word overused

"
"Forever..."

a word overused
a word misunderstood

It is but a moment
not longer than it should.

"Forever..."

has been heard
in lifetimes before

It lost its glitter--
a treasure no more.

"Forever..."

said they
in the heat of romance

empty, nothing
desperate call for chance

"Forever..."

said he
my lover, only one

I woke up one day
and found him gone.

"Forever..."

a word he overused
a word I misunderstood

It is but a moment
not longer than it should.

Sometimes we all fall short in some way or the other to the one we love, I like the message you are sending.. Words do have power...Bless

Everything is a moment, indeed...words are seldom thought out as they should be...it seems x

Great poem, i really liked it.
The structure is beautiful and the meaning is deep than what we generally use the word for
And it is also stright to the point.
Thank you for sharing your ideas on this overused word.
Third stanza is powerful... true... to most people who use this word.

True, it really is overused and not understood by many. I like how you set up your poem. I think it is a nice thing to believe cause it gives you hope, but forever is just not reality. :)

the only time i believed it here on earth was when in the movie "Sandlot" the "boys were initiating the newbie about Hercules the giant dog ... then only with a grain of salt .. then there is the Bible and Eternity which i take very seriously :)
Blue .. your format is magnificent .. i love it! ... your play on Forever and moment is challenging and a great twist ... your poem is much bigger than the "he" in this ... i think this is very good... write on girl..write on!

An honor, Eintein... :)
I enjoy how you worded the poem as well as you developed it's layout. Overall, it was a great read. "Forever" is word that is indeed overly used, abused, and mistaken.

You are welcome.
You write the truth, and bring to light a problem. We shouldn't make promises we can't keep.

Forever is not a word that people should use lightly. Forever means "neverending", not "until a few months from now."
