I was a worm

I was a worm

A Poem by Blue
"

ugly, unimportant

"
I was a worm,
ugly, unimportant.
Too insecure,
I  hid in a plant.
Beautiful creatures
all pass me by.
I wished to be like them.
Why wasn't I?

Why wasn't I
like an owl so wise
or like a fearless lion
or a dog that's nice
or like a fast cheetah
or a graceful cat?
Why wasn't I
like this or like that?
I looked at myself
and cursed my state.
Why do I have
to suffer such fate?
I prayed to God,
"I want to die!"
But He told me something...
Now I know why!

I was a worm
and that I was glad.
And so I said,
"I'm not that bad!"
I  got out of my plant
for all the world to see:
I will  become the best worm
that I can ever  be!

Yes, it matters not what we are, or who we are, just as long as we do our best to be as we are. Be grateful to God for our life, no matter how difficult or how disabled, or how ugly or how ill. Count our blessings, count them one by one, and it will surprise you what the Lord has done!

Thank you so much, Daffy!
Hey, those worms stir up the soil and help the plants grow, so I'd say they're pretty important. Neat little poem, wow, you can write about anything!

True! I chose worm because I originally wanted it to transform into a butterfly at the last stanza. .. read more
