![]() miss meA Poem by Amy Vaughni don’t want to wake up. i am squirming beneath the white sheets as they grip my legs like ropes, trying to tie me down and bury me. i feel that familiar tightening of my stomach, the panic bubbling up to my throat. he is back, my little demon, someone i thought i had said goodbye to months ago. he is fierce, fitter, with a smile on his face, better than before " though better is not the right word " the way you see an ex months later and you wish they looked like crap but really they’ve done beautifully without you and would love to rub it in your face. i cringe, and back away, but he tilts his head and gleams brightly. pauses, before saying, “Did you miss me?” © 2011 Amy VaughnAuthor's Note
