You Raised Me Up

You Raised Me Up

A Poem by Aersh
"

A tale of how love can raise you up or even make you fall....

"

 They lived to love…

They ran around, in mustard fields of beauty;

They sang around, cuddled and were playful... cheery;

The golden drapes of the sun wrapped them in peace;

The pristine moon kept them away from grief.

And he said…

We need hunger to live…

You are my hunger.

When I am down, you turn up,

And make me ever stronger.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;

You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;

I am strong, when I am on your side.

You raise me up… To more than can be.

And she said…

You don’t take my breath away;

But you are my breath;

You make my heart beat;

You make my life straight.

When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary;

When trouble comes and my heart burdened be;

Then, I am still and wait here in silence;

Until you come and sit awhile with me.

But the social barriers kept them in…

For she was the heiress, and he a mere common;

Their blossoms were considered a sin,

It tied them… tried to bring a bond of disharmony.

She stood tall, success beneath her.

He lay small, failed in life… downtrodden.

Yet they stood for each other…

Their bond kept them strong, their love warm.

And when… the day of union came…

He bowed to her… and his knees he asked…

Will you marry me?

Her eyes stared into his… the lips parted

And she spoke…

You don’t suit me.

He turned around, tears drowning him down;

Walked back the path he had taken;

Walked ahead till he reached,

The destination where he wanted to be.

And he said…

You raised me up, so I can stand on mountains;

                                You raised me up to walk on stormy seas;

                                So here I am… Standing on top of this mountain,

                                Submitting myself to the stormy seas…

There is no life… no life without hunger,

And now my hunger is gone,

So I drown it in the eternity…

The swelling oceans of lone.

He closed his book of life…
