Anxiety

Anxiety

A Poem by Aekmy

Heart jackhammering in your chest with another hour to go.
You know he'll be here soon, but there isn't anything
you'd rather do than lay in your bed
being overcome by those sensations, by
the overwhelming feelings.

There must be a circus in your stomach because it's
flipping all over the place. The ring master ordering elephants
to stomp, stomp, stomp in your chest. You can hardly take it anymore
when
you remember how it felt last time.
The anxiety you felt just before he arrived, the overwhelming calm feeling
seconds after he's in your arms.

Shaking hands fumble over toothpaste and the toothbrush.
Your stomach churns, but you continue anyway.
Anxiety overcomes your brain like his hands take over
your emotions, grab them in his hands,
and take over.

There is beauty is uniqueness. Embrace the strange or perish in the ordinary.
