So Long and GoodnightA Chapter by AekmyThe air was cold and crisp; the fog was thick. I could barely see through the bush I was hiding behind. Every cop in this town was looking for me. And just so they could send me away to be cut up into little pieces. Unfortunately for them, I wouldn’t feel a thing. Patrol car sirens could be heard in the distance until finally, it stopped. I crouched backwards, wondering why I wasn’t running already. The police officer hopped from his car, crouching into an alarmed position. His eyebrows were driven together with frustration. I imagined he wanted to be the one to find me, to go back with my head in the back seat and present it to his boss. I wouldn’t let that happen. He would feel little gratification. “I know you’re here Pixie Princess,” He murmured, as if the name was a secret trigger to his presence. He tip-toed around, pulling weeds back. Without warning, he pulled his flashlight from his belt and shined it in all directions. The first time he missed me, but the second time the light rested into my pupils. In a desperate attempt to hide, I dropped onto my belly. “Come out, come out.” Fear enveloped his eyes as ours met. They were soft and shiny, while mine were lucid and glassy. He dropped the flashlight onto the ground. I knew this was my cue to run, but a part of me didn’t want him to be afraid. It was time the world knew who we were. “Don’t,” I inched closer, locking my eyes into his. “Move. I won’t hurt you.” I extended my hand as if letting a kitten smell it. He glanced at the veins protruding from my skin and backed away slightly. I wondered why he hadn’t run off yet. Maybe he knew I would be able to catch him; he knew too much. Tense vibes hung in the air. Nothing could prepare me for what happened next. From his belt, he slung a tranquilizer into my side. Every colorful feeling in my body drained out of that spot. I fell, paralyzed, to the ground. He grinned at the messy sight of me. “Are you happy?” I hissed. The effects of the liquid could be lethal to humans, I realized. Soon, the spasms started. I twitched in the dirt. My brain was going hay wire. The cop knelt down to look at me. He made the mistake of brushing my hair back. I bit him with all of my energy. Blood slid down my throat. The small amount I received was enough for my body. He jumped back, screaming bloody murder into the dark night. Finally, I was able to pull the needle from my skin. I shoved it into his calf. He wouldn’t get away now. Silent screeches filled my ears. With my nails, I ripped the flesh off of his lips. “Scream now,” I taunted. The metal from my pocket knife glistened in the moon light. I glanced at it and thought of James. He would be disappointed now, he would tell me to leave him, and I would tell him no. “Are you ready?” I laughed diabolically, the juice taking affect. “This won’t hurt a bit.” He closed his eyes and screamed; a sound of pleasure to my dead ears. I carved a heart into his chest, digging deep enough to puncture his lungs. He would bleed to death. “So long and Goodnight,” I whispered, shoving the knife into his right hand. I walked away without another thought, without any regret. © 2009 AekmyAuthor's Note
