Chapter Seven

A Chapter by Aekmy

 Gerard’s P.O.V

“Oh, that part. Well, you see Nigel wasn’t – human.” Not human? What the heck?

“He was a – a vampire and when he bit me I turned in to one, too.” Her voice faded into the air. “And we live forever.” I did my hardest to push that off and ask the more important questions.

“How did you get into high school?” I blurted. Okay, that wasn’t really the question I wanted, but that works, too.

“When I was twenty-eight I looked very young, beautiful even and when I changed my beauty increased, so getting into any school wasn’t that hard.”

“But you have parents, and you live with them and you kissed me…” something very shocking crossed my mind. “You, um, don’t eat people do you?” I gulped worriedly, my eyes darted between the small space between us, and Ava busted into a huge fit of whispered giggles.

“Technically, no, I don’t eat people.” She sighed. “Remarkably I’ve never dined on human blood. I always just dealt with my hunger. Grant you that is very hard.” She pointed and took in my expression. Dined on human blood? She said it so formally.

“I understand if you don’t want to be with me, it’s totally understandable.” She looked down at the bed cover and twirled it in her fingers. She seemed so human.

“When did you start hearing voices?” she looked up quickly and then away again. Wrong question? Panic crossed her face as she thought.

“The first voice I heard was yours.” Her eyes floated into inexistence. “It was so lucid and edgy, crisp and pitch perfect. You were singing. I looked for your voice. I deliberately asked people questions to hear their voice and when it wasn’t yours I looked harder. In my travels I figured I would talk to people you had and when I moved to the United States I did.” She flashed a grin and only now did I notice her pointy canines. “Frank,” she chuckled loudly. “I ran into frank on my way off the train in Jersey. I could tell he was about to push me away, but he stopped. Inside his mind I could taste your voice. I got so excited, but stopped myself; to my dismay frank smelt amazing, maybe something you didn’t need to know, but if I hadn’t stopped myself – ,” she swallowed, obviously revisiting the memory. “After I dismissed him I searched for your voice further and found it. You all were practising in your garage. Gerard, it sounded breathtaking. I could hear every pitch change, voice inflection there was.”

“Ava, I…” I didn’t know what to say. I had been sleeping with a vampire for weeks, kissing, hugging, and snuggling with her. Part of me wanted to push her out of the window; she wouldn’t die, she would just – fall.

“You know, I think I should leave.” She hopped up, only in a t-shirt. I had never really looked at her skin. It was pale and sculpture like. Her legs were very very – sexy. It felt weird checkin out a vampire.
