You'd Think

You'd Think

A Poem by Aekmy

You would think I’d know by now not to play for keeps.

But by now I’ve learned how to win the game.

Practice makes perfect they always say,

And when they’re gone, I can enjoy the fame.

I don’t need anyone to hold my hand, or shield me from the candy stealing kind.

By now I need assistance with the tricking, pretending to love you kind.

No now I’m losing in this cruel world.

The dust on that sidewalk plays patterns on my palms and face in heaps.

There is no reason to feel pain, no need to try and win this race.

Emotionally and physically I have already lost,

But do you want to play for keeps?

I like this piece, there's an interesting kind of emotion behind it. Good wording. You got your point across with a few well-thought out lines. Great work!
