Innocence's Symphony

Innocence's Symphony

A Poem by Ann-Marie

In the whispering winds of yesteryear,
Where innocence and laughter grew,
I find myself wandering back,
To the fields where my childhood bloomed.

The smell of freshly cut grass,
A symphony of green, a scent of joy,
Wafting through the air, like a gentle embrace,
Wrapping my heart in nostalgic grace.

Rain would dance upon the earth,
A rhythmic patter, a soothing hymn,
Its fragrance, earthy and divine,
A lullaby to the restless mind.

Barefoot runs and muddy feet,
Under skies of endless blue,
Chasing dreams through emerald blades,
In a world where worries never knew.

The rain would cleanse the dusty day,
Bringing life to every leaf,
Its scent a promise of renewal,
A tender kiss, a sweet belief.

In these memories, I find peace,
A timeless echo, a fragrant tale,
Of freshly cut grass and rainy days,
Where my soul learned to prevail.

Deeply personal, and draws the reader in - I believe the latter is accomplished by reinforcing the senses (scents and sounds). Thank you for sharing, and keep up the good work!

Just a couple of suggestions/questions, if you will - 1) I'm not sure "symphony of green" is the right expression, because there are no sounds involved, you have sound in the form of rain, so it might be better to couple "symphony" with "rain" and go with a "spread/splurge of green" or something better that you can come up with. 2) It might do better if you could avoid repeating "freshly cut grass" (verses two and six), and slightly modify one of those instances.

These are more or less technical points, and don't let it take away from the fact that it is a beautiful poem that appeals aplenty to the typical reader out here. Thank you!
