A Poem by dining alone
"

I wrote this while listening to the instrumental track "Bookstore" by Jon Brion which is on the 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind' OST.

"

The bookstore reminder
You must be happy, christmas lights
The significance right behind her,
hiding in the wind holding our kites

I don't remember long nights
the ocean breaks just right

Are my hands cold?
Because this train is cold

Thinking twice about the wine
A shot or two, eight or nine
So drunk that I am the shoreline
The horizon is yours not mine

You are distant,
I am water resistant
There's a light in the deep

and

I will hold my breath until there is nothing else to keep

I lIke this. The sadness seems to be accepted and tolerable in some way as if it is expected, much as Christmas. Maybe such a defence in depth is a good way to deal with life's disppointments.
