What u see

What u see

A Poem by Adraine

So tell me

Tell me truly

Tell me what you see

Just a mask I wear for you

Or one i wear for me

Is it who I once was

Or who I'm supposed to be

Is it who I really am

So tell me

Tell me truly

Tell me what you see

Does my mirror tell me truth

I know what I see

Two eyes, a nose, a mouth

It's what consists of me

But can my mirror really reflect

its what all others see

Is my reflection

All there is of me

So I close my eyes

And think awihe

About many, many truths

My writing, My music

My love, My fear

And all the naive thoughts of youth

All the experiences the pain the joy

All my life has to give

All the promises and the times I would die to relive

I open my eyes

And what do I see

Am I that girl looking back at me

The truth is no

It can't be

A reflection can never capture

All that is me

And that's the truth

It's the lesson learned

Whether ugly, pretty, scarred or pure

A simple reflection can never help to discern

Who a person is

Or who they could be

So now tell me

Tell me truely

Tell me what you see

Now that you know

What just a reflection will never be.
