LIVES REMEMBERD IN STONEA Poem by Adraine
I stand amongst the cool gray stone
The last remembrances of ones that were lost
Something tangible that grievers can speak to
Put there forehead to
Weep to
I do not weep for I have no on here
But still I visit
Read the names
Try to imagine what these lives held
before they were laid to rest in the earth
Some young
Taken before their time
Before they had a chance to live
To love
To make a difference
To make mistakes
Some old
With many mourners or enemies left behind
Perhaps children
Friends
pets
But still a life lived
I find it calming here
Peaceful
Welcoming even
Amongst the dead
The memories
The lives remembered in stone.
