The Unwanted ChildrenA Poem by Margarita OrtizA narration of the lives of abandoned children left to the care of an aging destitute grandmother.The Unwanted Children Woman in love she vowed I Do The man she loved He said I Do For this woman I Do meant I love you For this man I Do meant I want you! Came the first child; that was fine The second child, oh not so good The third child, no longer was He in the mood Came the fourth child and He was gone! This woman then lived in despair Four children to raise in such thin air There wasonly one person who'd take her heir An aging grandmother she always care! For these children grandmother was destitute She was 75, children were 6, 4, 2, and 8 months old Neighbors were aghast but they were mute In 1975, Grandmother passed; children left in the cold! With Grandmother gone, what happens then Lived the street, no aid, no one, so what As adult, people prosecuted for what the've seen Unwanted children are nuisance and that's that! © 2013 Margarita OrtizAuthor's Note
