Nightingale

Nightingale

A Poem by Sabrina
"

A poem I wrote, the last line made me shed a tear. Read, and let me know how it makes you feel.

"
Sing, sing forever now!
Gentle nightingale, your tune helps the
Horrid taste of this cup of death
Move smoothly down this wretched throat.

Sing, for life has closed her eyes,
And turned her cheeks away from me,
For animals strike the ground with fear from me,
For family is now an empty word, haunted with memories,
For love is an empty promise, a sword etched with the word ‘goodbye’.

Rest, rest forever now!
Death has accepted me, a recluse for a while,
Sweet nightingale, I pick apart your bones with horror,
In search of the lovely tune you once sung.
I look at you with pity, and with jealousy,
I lie next to you for the eternal sleep.

Rest, for life is not meant for us,
Simple travelers along the way,
With hearts torn apart, and minds gone astray,
Now my bones lie next to yours,
And your beautiful tune can be heard once more.
