OCDA Poem by A L Her

when you have OCD you often find yourself saying thing's the minute they come to your mind, you have no filter whatsoever. there's no time to think about what you're about to say because you're too busy thinking about a million other things, like the guy standing way too close next to you. he's so close you can basically feel his germs on your body. but you can't find the words to tell him that he's way too close to your personal space because you think you just stepped on a crack on the sidewalk. boy, does that tick you off. now you're thinking about it, and doing so you think you might've stepped on another one, so you watch your step. though you're watching your step you don't miss the guy that accidentally grazed your arm. you now watch the cracks and keep calm trying not to look for something to rub your arm against. but you're watching your steps. in fact, you're watching them so well, you find Her. She's someone you don't mind at all, amazingly enough. you don't mind how She falls asleep on your lap while you two are watching TV. you don't mind that She wraps her arms around you from behind and leans her chin on your shoulder while you try to make breakfast. you don't mind talking to Her while you two walk to the supermarket and you feel Her fingers wrap tightly around your hand. you don't mind that you just stepped on a crack on the sidewalk while talking to Her. you don't mind Her, you don't mind Her at all. © 2016 A L HerAuthor's Note
