Confessions of Fire

Confessions of Fire

A Poem by Daz

In that moment,
My soul burned
What was born
From pleasure
Had to die in guilt
In that moment
I was caught up
Denying
My betrayal
Now I confess
To this fire
My eyes,
A sea of blood
Ready
For the consequence

OH! NO! Don't go gently into that good night! (Surprised nobody said that?) I do love the willingness to confess a wrong though, Daz.

I hate to sound like a know - it -all...But Christ died so all we need to do is repent of that sin.
HE BORE ALL THE GUILT.
Your sin is as if it never happened, Daz, after you repent...But as a Christian you already know that.
I have to look at life that way because I am the worst of sinners.
Great poem!

a real gut punch. we all carry guilt that we need to confess. excellent imagery that captures the pain involved.

this was very haunting but in a down to earth way. i think we've all done something we later regretted. and karma gets us all in the end. biting work. sharply written, it slices deep.

Oh, this could be the echo of so many poor choices I've made in my own life, moments of temptation remembered with painful regret and lived out in personal disappointment. Great poem and I enjoyed the read despite the painful recollections it stirred. But people can and do change and we all must grow and learn for ourselves. It's funny that every generation tries to warn the next but the warnings fall mostly on deaf ears. When I was a teen I thought my parents were just boring old people and I didn't have time to listen to their old fashioned ideas. Now I'm old and I know my kids and grandkids would feel the same about my advice. But I think each generation just has to learn the ropes of life for themselves. Great write. F.

Thank you.
What was born

had to die in guilt

That is so very powerfully expressed. A betrayal can certainly lead to guilt. Confessing that guilt would cause a bonfire of magnitude. You say so much here in this brevity. Thank you for sharing.

I had to laugh at 'bonfire of magnitude'... You get the idea. And yes, guilt is exhausting. Thanks f.. read more

LoL!!! I hear you.
In one fell swoop!
You executed the scene of the fall,
regret and retribution.
Daz!
You are a remarkable writer!

Infidelity is a hard one. You capture both its allure and its consequence masterfully.
