Antique Panes

Antique Panes

A Poem by Ruben Rodriguez

Shades on my window
cover antique panes
Like eyelids cover
blinded souls in pain

Courtyard smiles
hide the aching inside
Making short work
of child's play outside

Elegant manicured trees
perfect, straight, and tall
Cast long shadows
while crematory's smoke stacks call

Holding patterns end
waiting for a safe landing
The windows obscure the strength
of those left standing

I won't forget how my life felt motionless
And end my long stay, end my life emotionless

About
I've been writing poetry since 2014, so I'm a novice. I'm obsessed with having my poetry rhyme, but I'd like to eventually write different types of poetry. I mostly write about: love, depression, alco.. more..
