Morning Face

Morning Face

A Poem by Ruben Rodriguez

I miss her smile
That grin of deception
It's been a while
Since I felt her rejection

You know how it ends
It was never in doubt
"Let's just be friends."
"It's not working out."

I can't shut it off
this overwhelming feeling
When things get rough
I can't stop the bleeding

My wounds never healed
My will wasn't strong
My fate was sealed
Where did I go wrong?

Why do I still care
Why do I still dream
Life is so unfair
When things are not as they seem

I continue to grieve
And move at a slower pace
I don't want to believe
I'll never see her morning face

About
I've been writing poetry since 2014, so I'm a novice. I'm obsessed with having my poetry rhyme, but I'd like to eventually write different types of poetry. I mostly write about: love, depression, alco.. more..
