Sea Shells

Sea Shells

A Poem by Ruben Rodriguez

Sitting on driftwood, with a pint in my hand
Burying my toes and soul in the sand

Watching a wave as it rises, crests, and breaks
Listening to the hiss the white foam makes

Calming ocean waters, brilliant and blue
Nothing calms my mind, not even this view

Smelling the ocean spray and beach around me
Drinking the pint until it's empty

Hearing the palm trees rustle their leaves
Swaying back and forth in the ocean breeze

Fighting seagulls tussle over food
Rehearsing my suicide to better my mood

Collecting sea shells, the children walk by
Treasuring the skeletons that catch their eye

Feeling jealous of a crab, it's legs in the air
Laying dead on it's back, life can be unfair

About
I've been writing poetry since 2014, so I'm a novice. I'm obsessed with having my poetry rhyme, but I'd like to eventually write different types of poetry. I mostly write about: love, depression, alco.. more..
