Etched Stone

Etched Stone

A Poem by Ruben Rodriguez

Sit with me shy girl
Learn with the wonder in a child's eye
Youth's treasures held like an oyster's pearl
Turn away when I say "Hi"

Notice me young woman
I come to your door handsome and strong
We rediscover ourselves again
Let us make right, what had once been wrong

Kiss me beautiful maiden
With lips that sweetly sigh my name
Feelings evolve from simple attraction
Let's fan the spark that will become a flame

Touch me sensuous angel
Fireworks explode for us and us alone
A once closed flower opens it's petal
That sweet sigh has since become a moan

Marry me blushing bride
Your finger adorned with diamonds and gold
Together we stand side by side
A greater love story has never been told

Live with me loving wife
Let's make a home from this house
We hold in our arms a new-born life
The perfect child and the perfect spouse

Ignore me busy mother
We don't touch, kiss, or even sit
Together we raise our son and daughter
While the embers grow cold in our fire pit

Care for me life-long friend
The Sun hangs low in my Western sky
Disease will bring my life to an end
Your spirit is strong and your eyes remain dry

Bury me grieving widow
Place flowers upon this etched stone
Your tears fall inside a black limo
The remaining days are yours and yours alone

Come to me my eternal heart
Spread your wings and take flight
Death could NEVER do us part
I've been patiently waiting in the light

About
I've been writing poetry since 2014, so I'm a novice. I'm obsessed with having my poetry rhyme, but I'd like to eventually write different types of poetry. I mostly write about: love, depression, alco.. more..
