Drowning Horse

Drowning Horse

A Poem by Ruben Rodriguez

The only thing in the sink
A glass for a needed drink
The one I kept filling last night

I'm tired and old
No matter how much I'm told
Things are NOT going to be alright

Filling it is my solution
To understand the confusion
After a while clearer thoughts start to form

My throats feels the burn
Life is no concern
A few sips seem to quiet the storm

I wake up on the floor
Clothes from three days before
A note telling the world "I'm sorry"

A sheet hangs from the door
I can't believe it tore
I hope my daughter is able to forgive me

Thank God the door is locked
Because they'd all be shocked
Like a drowning horse carried away by a flood

I don't give a s**t
Next time I'll eat a bullet
And spray the wall behind me with my blood

About
I've been writing poetry since 2014, so I'm a novice. I'm obsessed with having my poetry rhyme, but I'd like to eventually write different types of poetry. I mostly write about: love, depression, alco.. more..
