Streets of Baltimore

Streets of Baltimore

A Poem by Ruben Rodriguez

Danny found his wife
and best friend in bed
He took his 38
and shot himself in the head

Fred returned from the war
after witnessing the carnage
Haunted by years of memories
he jumped off a bridge

Jennifer was beautiful
She worked as a model
She took Xanax for anxiety
One day she took the whole bottle

Jack tried all he could
but depression was all he felt
He hung himself in the backyard
with his designer belt

Shiela was molested
Her uncle couldn't resist
Years of therapy didn't stop her
from cutting open her wrists

Phil saved all his life
His investments went down the drain
Children's pictures in his hands
He laid down in front of a train

Nichole was a junkie
It's a fight she couldn't win
She died with a needle in her arm
OD'ed on heroin

Pam spent her days
on a stool at the local pub
She came home, took a bath
and threw the toaster in the tub

Edgar was a poet
He wrote about love and gore
Drunk and alone, they found him dead
On the streets of Baltimore...

About
I've been writing poetry since 2014, so I'm a novice. I'm obsessed with having my poetry rhyme, but I'd like to eventually write different types of poetry. I mostly write about: love, depression, alco.. more..
