A letter to my past selfA Poem by ADayTime, the fickle thing has trapped you in its maze for far too long Hidden in the farthest reaches Where light even with all its speed, loses its stamina and cannot reach There you lay With all the cold horrors mankind forgot or cast aside I see you have made friends with those you once called foes All these memories, fleeting and faithless You have somehow made loyal They guard you so dearly I almost forgot you, you know? I almost forgot how we laughed at the stars How we dared the sun to burn us How we cursed god In my dreams, I take you up On the highest height I know You try to fly but you fail I watch you plummet fast and hard and deadly And somehow there isn't a sound You don't even make a dent in the dirt All that's left of you is me Somewhere along the way I sacrificed you to make room for the world And now there's nothing left but my memory and time And I almost forgot you, remember? © 2022 ADayReviews
