Temporal

Temporal

A Poem by Austin Davis

If I were a disease, if I were an ailment
To be treated and cured by medical remedy
A recollection of leaves, of discarded and forgotten memories
If only amnesia were a choice and Alzheimer's a need
If time were not temporal, but sketched uncomplicatedly at my feet
I would walk and I would travel and I would quickly leave
Charting a course in its entirety, its eternity
beyond history, beyond humanity and beyond me
