NYC DreamsA Poem by AdaraThis is pretty much a poem about New York City. Its highs and lows and trying to be set apart from it in order to have the kind of peace and stillness that the city itself lacks.Melting pot, melting pot Put me to sleep Here on the concrete Allow me leave of absence From your maleficent ambience Latino’s in Spanish Harlem, Jobless John in Bed-stuy, Junkies on the West side, Successful Nancy who Lives on Park, shops on Lex and trudges upon my concrete Put me to sleep Anoint my dreams with vignettes of peace. Let me have this and when I wake, Melting pot, I’ll fight to breathe again © 2011 AdaraAuthor's Note
