Surrender To Life

Surrender To Life

A Poem by Adan Khan

I rest on a sandy beach,

With all my complex emotions.

Nowhere - I have reach,

Following those quick earthly promotions.

Well, everything was going for me,

Once upon a time.

Well-off I had been,

Depositing ample of dimes.

Addicted to whirlpool baths'

And why! my mature cigar.

Those were my luxuriant paths,

Life remained a book left ajar.

Only then 'twas

I suffered giant losses

and betrayal. The cause

being lingering shares and grosses.

Now, only silence provides me company,

And the same appall me.

In my pocket I felt some money,

Threw it and set my soul free.

No loyal mates, left barren,

Veins and heart haunted.

Living turned up daring,

It's me the life daunted.

I pulled myself to shore,

When the thing on wrist struck five.

And witnessed sun being 'no more',

Yet knew for next day it would survive.

With this expectation,

I let the life live me.

Someday, it'll lend me donation,

And again charge out its interest fee !

Success and Defeats go hand in hand. Time makes man taste all hardships but he must remember one who hasn't faced a defeat in life is not at all experienced. Failures are to be learnt from instead of weeping over them. But at times, we lose all trust in world and surrender to depression. Instead of living the life, we let the life live us its way.
