Dead gods

Dead gods

A Poem by Adam Parker
"

Are the gods we know real? What about the gods of the first men? Do they die when they aren't believed in?

"
Gods are egotists.
they seize to exist when they are not worshiped,
or do they?

Is our god a benevolent trinity ?
or Amun-Ra excavating the sand?
Failing to exist when forgotten, or
laying in the sky to withstand
the blasphemy which it/they receive ,
praying for bent knee and broken sword.

A picture comes to mind
of those who worship the earth:
Hittites in huts , or a tribe in the amazon ;
the first men praising the sun
and their sons.
When death ensues in cold blackness will will face Zeus?
Or will our hearts be balanced on scales with a feather ?

The affirmation of the realisation that all of those
who affirm their god is the one true god
do not realise that all before them have said the same ,
are they sane or ignorant?
To distinguish between what is theirs and what is ours, or what is nothing at all.
