ManchesterA Poem by Adam ParkerA poem I wrote about the attacks in Manchester. It's a massive tragedy , and has brought out the worst in humans , with fake news and hatred , but also the best in unity and peace within a community .
Hatred spews it's vile head in times of peril and heartache-
how could someone do this? How could they? indoctrination splits our nation whole ; People taught to hate that which is human , taught to hate that which is innocent , taught to hate that which is themselves . The media tells me that nails spewed in an arena , particles in an object compressed with innocents , the cries of a mother who can't locate her baby , those local and disparate - all united in the same pain. "It's the muslims" they say , "They want to kill us , it's a war" yet no muslim I've met is full of boiling tar - hate brought to the boil , and left simmering ; synaesthesia of vision and sickness , ears ring with blows , nose of burnt flesh, heart of hate. I feel sick repeating the lines of: "it's a group of radicals" yet breath after breath it seems to not be believed. I see a stream online saying "lets burn the mosques" as if fighting fire with fire would eradicate flame. I hope that unity will reign in a joyous union with peace and love , the trio of optimism pressed harsh inside- however I am doubtful that my view is abundant as: The TV , radio , social media - all scaring us for views. Fear sells more than sex and drugs , the base human emotion we all hold dear. False allegations rampage through stations With statements of gunmen, bombs and blows further. it's false. Judge that which you see , and not that you want to believe for this is humanity, and its barbaric seeds , Implanted for self profit and interest - question what is told , bite the hand that poisons you. © 2017 Adam Parker |
