Venus fly trap

Venus fly trap

A Poem by Adam Parker
"

A poem about the rise of fascism in the world

"
hate sprouts in a pot on the windowsill
it is given light , nutrients and soul in which to grow
It's aim is to diversify and difference show,
it's rhetoric and otherness it intends to spill,
I stand still, overcome with course pessimism
my aim to love equality and be optimistic is futile
While others are egotistic and the world strife with nepotism
a chasm grows in the soil when all are reviled.

A Venus fly trap in a world of flies ,
It's no surprise that everybody cries
When they realise that the world is flawed
We stand open jawed as this plan grows higher
It seeps into schools, business and even towers
it's seeds sprout in soils of holland, France and America
Saying we've "just gotta make it better
Yet, nostalgia is a fraud wearing rose tinted glasses
return in time is only to emphasise division ,
Rights were not equally shared ,
You only cared because you were free to persecute the trampled masses.
We must burn this plant , dig up its roots
Prohibit its distribution and take away its light
we must consolidate together In this social fight
So it can never win , and never beat fruit .
