Early Bird

Woke up late this morning
Felt like days had gone by
I said, what is it 'bout this morning
Is it my time to fly
I thought why just today, why not yesterday, show me the way, lead me to fate
But that ain't what this morning was trying to say to me
The morning said, if you want to be something
You gotta get up out your bed if you are trying to make ends meet

Then I thought the early bird gets the worm
You'll be waiting around forever if you try to wait your turn
I said the early bird gets the worm
There's no time to be polite 'cause you know, you know success is a fight
I said The early bird gets the worm
You gotta grab success by the neck and watch it squirm
It's a very, very tough lesson to learn
But if you don't learn now you're sure to be burned
Cause the early bird, early bird gets the worm

Now it's time to do something
Time to be somebody
I thought, how do I do something
When I don't know who to be
But I said just be who you are, you'll go very far, shoot for the moon, land in the stars
Now can you do something, is that the foundation that you need
This world needs a someone
But you gotta get up on your feet to be the someone the world needs

Then I thought the early bird gets the worm
You'll be waiting around forever if you try to wait your turn
I said the early bird gets the worm
There's no time to be polite 'cause you know, you know success is a fight
I said The early bird gets the worm
You gotta grab success by the neck and watch it squirm
It's a very, very tough lesson to learn
But if you don't learn now you're sure to be burned
Cause the early bird, early bird gets the worm

You gotta get up out your bed
Remember the lessons that you've learned
There's no time to procrastinate
Cause the early bird gets the worm

Baby the early bird gets the worm
You can't take a chance with steppin' aside, before you know you'll be lost in the tide
The early bird , early bird gets the worm
