Burned OutA Poem by AdaThe poem captures the intense thrill of transformation, followed by the inevitable loss of value and abandonment through the metaphor of a Cigarette.I was new, untouched, and exciting.
Filled with toxins, though perfectly safe, if left alone. You pressed me to your lips, And though I cried out for release, you lit the flame anyway. I felt a thrill at this new change. Lighter, as I let go of the pain. You smashed me on the ground and stubbed me with your heels. No longer of use Still, you kept the cigarette bud within your reach.
