Lice and nits can be a true disaster is left unchecked. It doesn’t matter who the victim is, you, your child or even a pet, it must be dealt with as soon as possible. Nowadays, there are 2 ways to get rid of lice: medicinal and people’s way. In this article we’ll examine people’s way to fight them.
Here are some of the most popular people’s ways to fight lice and nits:

First of all, one should comb his/her hair with a hair comb that has small and frequent combs. It can be a common hair comb or a special anti-lice comb that can be bought in any pharmacy. The fastest and the most radical way to fight lice is to shave one’s head. Of course, there are few people that would like to do such a thing, so this is considered to be the last resort.

 - One of the oldest ways is to rub your hair with kerosene and cover it with a towel. It should be then left on the head for about 2 hours and kerosene should be washed off. The best way for women would be a simple hair dye, as lice are very afraid of peroxide; -  -
 - A very effective tactic is to rub your scalp with cranberry juice as it detaches nits from hair. Such procedure should be repeated for 5-7 days;
 - If you’re fighting lice, be sure to always iron your clothes thoroughly as they like to lay their eggs in the stitches.

One should realize that people’s ways against lice was invented long time ago and people will use them in the future. But, no matter how effective they are, one should be aware of the following things:

 - If you’re going to use kerosene to kill lice, know that it will take long for your hair to recuperate. Kerosene is very greasy, so it will take some time to wash it off completely. It is also not recommended to use kerosene if you have long hair;
 - Vinegar " another people’s remedy against lice. It should be applied carefully as it dries out the hair and can even burn the scalp. Also, it will destroy lice, but is ineffective against nits.

How to prevent pediculosis?
First of all, examine the hair and scalps of everyone in the family as lice can wander from one person to another. Then, all the clothes should be washed at 60°C and clothes that can’t be washed should be sealed tightly in a plastic bag for 3 days (lice will die without food in about 55 hours). Fighting pediculosis at home is not a simple task as it demands significant efforts and lots of patience. The treatment can be considered successful only if a doctor examines your hair and scalp after a month and will not identify any adult lice, nits or larvae.
