Love from abroadA Poem by adakaiaA poem about what its like to be alone in a foreign city, and finding love onlineThe distance between you and I Incomprehensible yet only a keystroke away You listen to me across oceans You listen to me across graying skies And yet others call us strangers Our hearts beat together As one. Years of solitude, I found you on a machine I saw your faces Pixels in shades green, red, and a sorrow too deep to describe We talk in coded sentences Our language crafted Together. My brilliance shines Unrecognized to everyone but you I sit in silence, in an apt for two Alone for what felt an eternity And waited for you to come to me I tried to go out- and meet new people But they laughed and cursed and lived, As if it were that easy, to wake up Surrounded by strangers In a city so foreign and odd The street signs read better upside down The curse of many tongues And a world that is teeming with people I miss you my love, I’ll send you a postcard And wish I could travel with it To more foreign lands, And we’d discover them Together. © 2017 adakaiaAuthor's Note
