Control

Control

A Poem by Johnathan Smith

There's something in this house tonight,
It's beginning to take its toll.

I feel it crawling up my arms,
like tiny spider legs.

I feel it sliding down my legs,
like warm bee spawned honey.

It smells of musk,
as thick as fog.

There's something in this house tonight,
It's becoming my inner soul.

It sinks inside my skin,
like worms dig through the earth.

It flows inside my blood,
like sewage flowing in the pipes.

It takes my heart,
and as though the beating stops,
Its senses become much clearer.

There's something inside me tonight,
It's taken full control.
