X-mas takes Christ outta Christmas

X-mas takes Christ outta Christmas

A Poem by John E.

Ah, Christmas!

The tannenbaum so green,

The gifts so swell,

At the crack of the morn'

I wake to the sound

of Christmas music.

But wait!

What has been missing?

Caocao?

Mistletoe?

Christ!

Jesus Christ!

He is the real present!

The big cheese!

He was the king,

Born to die!

How could I so forget,

The real meaning?

I'd rather just tear

My Christmas tree down.

And use a cross, instead.

Cause you know, alright,

That Jesus is the true gift.

And remember this:

X-Mas takes the

"Christ" outta

Christmas!!

I was always opposed to the term, "X-mas," due to the fact that it truly does take "Christ" out of "Christmas." During the Holiday season, we can't even say "Christmas" anymore. It's always "Happy Holidays." We need to remember our Lord Jesus Christ, and the suffering He endured for us all. Even if one isn't Christian, I believe Christmas is a celebration for all, and, most of all, a celebration of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

Thank you for submitting this to my Christmas contest! Very well written! Interesting though - using the corss rather than a tree... a blending of two things in one, don't you think? Again, thank you for submitting this!

Good poem.
The blend of old colloquialisms (is that the right word?) and more down-to-earth speech went for a nice touch.
But I think you spelled Cocoa wrong, even if you were spelling Cacao. Ha ha.
