The Moon's Murderer

The Moon's Murderer

A Poem by Arantza

It was a dark night

Illuminated by the pale moon.

When two men

Crossed paths.

The pale man,

In clean clothes

On his way to a date.

The darker man,

On his way home

From a hard day at work.

At 9 o clock,

A scream

That both men heard,

That both men witnessed.

9:04

The cops arrived,

9:05

The black man’s innocent blood

Drifted away as the cop’s bullet swept his life.

While the white man,

Went on with his night,

As his trusting smile covered the dirty lie

That the night had carried.

The night of the Moon’s Murderer.

Hi!
I wrote this poem when I was either in 9th or 10th grade. I just found it searching through the computer's documents.
Is the idea or message of the poem clear?
Thanks!
