To think everyone could be wrong, turs out it was never enough.

To think that I could be significant,
In your life and world
A friend, a lover and confidant
In your secrets and greatest woes
To witness your genuine smile,
Your real tears, your laughter and worries

To think I could be more than just a challenge
A novelty you can push aside for the next
A person set aside at the edge
A doormat you can step on again and again.
To think I can be the change
To show light in your dark phase

Eyes flooding with unshed tears
Looking back, fists clenched and quivering lips
To the betrayal and tomorrow's fears
To the mess you left in me
Why couldn't it be me?
