Real Enough

Real Enough

A Poem by Sammi
"

Just popped into my head. I know it's no good but it's just here because I haven't uploaded anything in a long time

"

In a corner she sat.

Just sat.

Listening to the rain

pounding dramatically

against the window.

She lifted a hand up

towards her face.

She studied the lines and shapes it could make.

She studied the dainty nails and scratches from IVs.

Real Enough

she thought.

With that hand she lifted a plait

towards her face.

She observed the singled out strands.

She obverved the ends as they seemingly stretched away from one another.

Real Enough

she thought.

She pulled that plait and felt the pain

and scrunched up her doll-like face.

She noted the primary sting.

She noted the secondary ache.

Real Enough

she thought.

She sat there,
Hiding from reality.

Hoping that one day

the answer will be "yes"

when she questions

Am I real now?
