Shirt

Shirt

A Poem by Sammi

Kaplunk.

Her jeans fall to her ankles.

Slowly, she steps out of them.

Now look.

She stares into the mirror.

Checking out the girl she sees.

Boring.

She doesn't have a bad shape.

It's nothing special, mind you.

Oh well.

Her checkered panties - covered.

As a shirt finds its way on.

Bad fit.

Good several sizes too big.

Like a dress on her pale frame.

Comfort.

The oversized shirt calms her.

Makes him seem a bit closer.

Curl up.

In bed wishing he was there.

Wishing he could hold her now.

Alone.

She feels lonely as night draws.

Another night without him.

He won't be there tonight,

or the next night,

or the night after,

but he'll be there one day.

Wrapping his arms around her.

Keeping her safe.

Until then,

She'll wear his shirt to bed.
