Delightful Ode to Powerful Soma

Delightful Ode to Powerful Soma

A Chapter by A.C. Halcyon

I.

They give you one and you take ‘em all

They make you float before you fall

Enter into a brave new world

That is unlike the one where you were sired

II.

A drop that starts like honey, sweet

Another peck and you’ll get sick

Cary had a bit too much to drink

And now he has dove way too deep

III.

Soma-a permanent addiction

Fantasy snapping you out of reality’s mission

Incapacitating you of your own free volition

Crippling your blessed liberation

IV.

The worlds have shifted and the moons have changed

The sun shines but it isn’t the same

Everybody is a renegade

But do you run? Or just stay hid?

V.

Soma-you the ventriloquist

Turned flesh into wooden bits

Tie ‘em up and hanging him in

Like a puppeteer for all the kids

VI.

What more could he ever need?

When Soma shows itself on screen?

Cary stares a slave, acts obsequiously

You can make him do-about anything.

VII.

Watch him smile with every fire

Watch him cheer each time they die

Watch his heart disintegrate before your eyes

He’s not alive

VIII.

Though he breathes, he’s close to hell

One more minute for the final kill

If he’s on Earth no one could tell

But all they know, he’d fallen ill

IX.

Everybody left his side

From his mother to his future wife

And all the world was defined by him

As only he, and Soma dear

X.

But if all should wither and die

Cary hopes that Soma would survive

And all the world would melt behind

Just let him win in fantasies
