![]() Where all the Gods RoamA Chapter by A.C. HalcyonI. St.
Patrick’s Devotees Shedding
ties and coats of tweed The
barren, desolate backlot Of
thrown away shattered dreams The
celebration of Bacchus’ bounty Rowdy,
eternally living n ever to be A
dolorous memory Noisy
reveries of pills and ladies Rye
and barley Nobody
was to be dissevered from the merriment They
were getting drunk in
II. Along
came Cary Tugged,
persuaded gentle lamb docilely came Shared
the soma to which he might forget All
that’s ever known For
what’s good to be known will only stir up a storm. Elate-elate
and drown in intoxicating ignoramous Flush
all desire to devour knowledge The
sweet nectar of the gods to which They
all wished to depend on
III. Epicurean
their ways Hedonistic
night right into the heart’s core Narcissistic
princes preening into the stillest waters To
peer at the nymphs that danced in puddles Cary’s
ears caught the sound And
all the young men came Pushing
him to the ground But
the melody was too saccharine For
dear boy to resist The
goddess of the waters Floated
by her demonic volition Psyche
in purple, ravenous tresses Called
for the young lad in the calico jacket No
decision could ever be made That
could ever turn back and relinquish the hold The
goddess of waters with mermaid’s song controlled his very soul
IV. And
now all the young men Fled
with speed on their drunken heels No
more with pomp and vanity Would
they test the creatures of the worlds underneath The
garden where all the gods roamed Was
now a ghost town with ill fated memories And
all the young men Jackets
of plaid, dollars at the snap of a finger Bottles
of wine empty rolling to the last were never to be seen again Specks
of dust, ashes what we come from which we shall return And
all your gems shall shatter, the songs would cease to play Gone
with spirit and lechery were the gods today. © 2017 A.C. Halcyon |
