A Poem by Enigma

She never did understand,

Why God picked her,

Why she suffered more than others,
Or how she was able to handle it all—
For so long,

The—
Bruises—
Scars—
And Cuts,

Yet she’s—
Done it all—
Felt it all—
Experienced it all,

And here she is,
Breathing that fresh air,
Living that “normal” life,

A life hidden beneath—
Darkness and shadows,

Is that girl,

With the long brown hair,
The chocolate brown eyes,
And that hideous thing—
You call a smile,

Each night she remembers,

It haunts her,
No matter where she is,
What she is doing,
It’s on her mind,

The hate—
The tears—
The pain—
The lies,

So much anger—
So much emptiness—
So much is hurting,

Breaking her apart—
Making her insane,
Craving the love—
She wanted all her life,

I only wanted one thing—
For someone to save me—
For someone to just—

Love me,

This is truly sad yet touching. This story sadly happens way too often thus leaving children without hope. Beautifully written. I wrote something similar: "Andre."

Great poem! :)
