My Condolences

My Condolences

A Poem by Amanda Richelle

So many words course through my brain-
Hooked to one another: a synthetic chain-
Relieving a burden you cannot contain-
Sympathetic slogans soothe your strain.

Just beneath compassion lurks the profane-
Denial is futile: these remarks are for my gain-
Conjured up to avoid intimacy I won't maintain-
Stylish verbiage: my most powerful campaign.
