Constant Want

Constant Want

A Poem by Amanda Richelle

A whiff of the grass on the other side,
The sickly sweet scent choking pride,
Self depreciation seeks a place to hide.

Witnessing something better,
Envious of perceived pleasure,
Satisfied never.

Listening to another's accomplishment,
Spitefully spitting a compliment,
Eternally awaiting acknowledgement.

In a state of endless hunger,
Cravings linger
Even longer-

But as humanity feels the caress,
It breathes more, and envies less,
Ever evolving progress.
