Who determines what is said?

This poem is an attempt to describe the interesting interaction between when someone says vs. what someone else determines they have heard.

Does it matter what I say?
Which card I choose to play...
Can it altar your day-
Or was that determined anyway?

Did you hear me?
Speaking so carefree...
So sure you would agree-
How could it seem petty?

Can certainty be spoken?
When interpretation is chosen...
Even with a mind that is open-
Isn't all communication broken?
