Guilty Consciousness

Guilty Consciousness

A Poem by Amanda Richelle

A tight smile,
Choking on denial,
Vocal cords constricted,
Orchestrating what is depicted.

Simple and easy style,
Guarded while on trial,
Moving forward scripted,
Internally more afflicted.

Striving to be versatile,
In a straight jacket all the while,
With head lifted,
There is no evidence to be convicted.

I love the rhyming you used, it fit so well with the content of the poem. This grabs hold of a feeling we all know well, and you portrayed it wonderfully!
