Can you keep a secret?

Can you keep a secret?

A Poem by Amanda Richelle

My secret keeps me locked up tight-
Holds me captive although I fight.
It suffocates me with a pillow of shame,
While whispering in my ear: I am the one to blame.
My secret harnesses angry creatures of night-
Has them claw at my soul with all of their might.
It tortures me with its wicked games:
Fear, doubt and hate perpetually maim.
My secret does what it believes to be right-
Unsure if the rest of the world will be receptive of my bright light.
