Paint Me In Red

Paint Me In Red

A Poem by Brody Lyons

Are these crimes against me?
Those with spilled life haunting my own.
Grieving souls swarm my body like black crows near their master.
Torment me, lost enemies…
Make me live through your last moments.

Oh hello, man with sin.
Do you plead for fresh air?
No mercy is shown for those so wicked.
Let me show you true despair.

Laugh with me and use your last breath.
Your life is taken.
Paint me with your red.

With a sadistic smile shaping my lips,
I greet you, woman with a lying core.
Feel those beats within your chest?
Watch me take them away from you, w***e.

Laugh with me and use your last breath.
Your life is ripped.
Paint me with your red.

The sweet scent of the souls leaving their shells…
I’m covered in their blood.
My hands are stained with their lost life.
Through the air, their screams flood.

Laugh with me since you’ve used your last breath.
Your life has been stolen.
Paint me with your red.

Should I feel regret for my false justice?
Maybe I am the one who is wrong.
I’ve listened to those who has preached the holy word.
I feel their teachings have been sin all along.

Laugh at me since I have wasted my own breath.
My innocence has been leeched.
Paint me with their red.

This is dark and brilliantly sorrowful yet there is also a sense of anger on the writers part.
