Lost In A Field Of Burning FlowersA Poem by Brody Lyons
Lost in a field of burning flowers.
Feels like I’ve been wandering for hours. There’s no way to go. No direction where the wind blows. Lost in a field of burning flowers. My body’s weak, losing its power. Petals fall onto my shoulders. Through the heat of the air, they smolder. Lost in a field of burning flowers. My life’s ticking away its hours. Finally there’s something I find. A girl that’s been on my mind. Lost in a field of burning flowers. Hearts skip beats, which happen to be ours. We take slow steps closer. I feel as if fate chose her. Lost in a field of burning flowers. Our lips meet, hers are sour. The fear inside makes me break away. The polluted air around us is nothing but grey. Lost in a field of burning flowers. My eyes close as the ash showers. I wait for the moment she fades. Miming the field as it decays. Lost in a field of burning flowers. I have wasted too many hours. On the ash-covered ground, I lay. Just as the flowers around me, I burn away. © 2013 Brody Lyons |
