Carried To Extremes

Carried To Extremes

A Poem by knowman
"

passes by

"

If you observed, as I have done,

And noticed the world change,

How things we loved, have lost their fun,

And moved totally out of range.

Where once the places we liked to go,

Are gone without a trace,

And all the things we felt were so,

Are just plainly not the case.

Where once we hunted tiny rocks,

And buildings replaced them all,

And the paths we took all our walks,

Are parking lots, or just a Mall.

To what extreme must we exit?

To have the things we had,

And what things must we know?

To remove all the things so bad.

Things are far from what they were,

Most remote, utmost to the greatest degree,

So nothing now, or today is sure,

And nothing is really what you see.

To bring back from drastic ways,

To the gifts we once observed,

To return to all good days,

When morals and truth were served.

Superb piece of poetry. I'm stunned. It flows beautifully, and the rhymes leave a lasting impression on the reader, especially someone like me who loves rhymes. Reading it, I felt the feeling of nostalgia about the past and how everything back then seems so perfect now. We want to undo the changes that have taken place and go back to those times when "morals and truth" were the things that one saw around oneself. Great write.

A profound piece of writing my friend. This would have been as true twenty years ago as it is now and it will be just as true in twenty years time. Insightful.

I will say the morality of society as a whole as gone down the toilet...but there is a good few people with standards. Excellent, what things once were are not what they are now.

Very nice indeed.

This is awsome! It made me think about how all material things on this earth, like us humans, will eventually return to the earth as dust.

An honest and brilliant piece of writing. I can relate to this, everywhere nature is being torn apart and used for humans themselves. Animals are in greater danger everyday in our forever changing cities and world. People forget the importance of life and the beauty. Truth is forgotten and is nearly inexistent. A strong spoken and tugging poem to read.

Wonderful poertry, very profound, those good old days, love to see them again when times were more simple. Nice flow, a delight to recite out loud as all poetry should be read, the abab rhyme keeps it flowing a long. Very well done, Knowman. David

I have to be pedantic on this I'm afraid. The only thing I can find that doesn't work for this piece is line five. It seems just half a beat behind the rest. I read poetry outloud. A habit, sorry, but when read outloud it jars just a little but only on that line. As a terrific piece read in silence it is spot on. Many thanks for the chance to read it. I thoroughly enjoyed it

this was a beautifully designed piece and told such a wonderful story. The world is in a constant state of flux and change and sometimes it makes us miss the way things were.
this flowed greatly and was a great piece of art
